Libraries enhance resident life
Reading plays a vital role in fostering lifelong learning, intellectual stimulation, and emotional well-being, and at The Glen, we are proud to offer an extensive collection of books for residents to borrow and enjoy in both our Harrell Library in Stiles, and in our second-floor library space in Redbrook.
By offering curated reading materials that span fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, history, and hobbies, The Glen’s library offerings cater to a wide range of interests and reading levels. For many residents, having access to books and educational resources helps maintain cognitive function, encourages curiosity, and provides a sense of continuity with earlier life pursuits.
One of The Glen’s newest additions to our collection is “The 100 Greatest Books Ever Written from Franklin Mint,” donated by Dr. Sam Holladay.
Redbrook hosts a monthly book club, and The Glen regularly offers educational lectures that promote social
engagement and mental stimulation. These events give residents the opportunity to discuss ideas, share perspectives, and connect with peers in meaningful ways.
Library spaces also serve as a quiet, welcoming environment for reflection and enjoyment.
Whether diving into a favorite mystery novel, researching historical topics, or joining a lively book club meeting, older adults find that the library helps keep their minds sharp and spirits high — proving that the joy of learning truly has no age limit.
