Sandra C. Putman, RN, has joined The Glen Retirement System as Director of Nursing. In this role, Sandy is responsible for providing clinical leadership to The Glen community to ensure excellent resident care in compliance with all laws and regulations.
With extensive experience in direct patient care, nursing management, and administrative leadership, Sandy brings a wealth of knowledge to The Glen. The majority of Sandy’s career is in the Shreveport area where she worked with Schumpert Health System, CHRISTUS North Louisiana – Highland, and Ochsner LSU Health. Her experience in senior leadership includes serving as assistant vice president of Trauma and Stroke Services where she had oversight responsibility for a Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke program, and a Level 2 pediatric trauma unit. Before joining The Glen, Sandy served as Assistant Administrator at a local long-term care community where she applied her expertise in operations, policy development, and quality improvement.
Sandy earned an MBA from Centenary College and a BSN from Northwestern State University. She brings a data-driven, systems-oriented approach to healthcare management through her Six Sigma Green Belt certification and Healthcare Advisory Board Nursing Leadership training. Sandy is a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course and a Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Leadership Alumna, all skills she puts to work daily in leading teams and navigating complex organizations.
Deeply rooted in the Shreveport community, Sandy has served on numerous boards including the American Heart Association, March of Dimes, and she currently serves on the local board of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, the Shreveport District Nurses Association, and the Society of Trauma Nurses.
In her spare time, Sandy enjoys flying and holds a multi-engine commercial pilot’s license with instrument rating which is a testament to the precision and focus she brings to everything she does.
