Local mayor to discuss passion at The Glen
Shreveport, LA – Greenwood Mayor Frank Stawasz — a longtime clock repairman — will speak about restoring clocks as part of The Glen Retirement System’s ongoing CATS series, which focuses on culture, arts, technology and science.
Stawasz first began his business of restoring clocks by working on timepieces at his Greenwood home in 1981.
He opened his first clock repair shop in Pierremont Common on Line Avenue in Shreveport two years later, then eventually purchased a building on Greenwood Road in Greenwood, which has been the home of the Time-N-Chime ever since.
Stawasz’s clock shop is just a short walk down the road from Greenwood Town Hall, where Stawasz has served as mayor since 2012.
CATS: Events on Culture, Arts, Technology and Science, presented by The Paul and Betty McDonald Foundation, is set at The Glen each year and brings a diverse group of scholars, leaders and artists to residents and the Shreveport-Bossier City community.
“Each CATS event brings enrichment to its audience and starts a conversation between The Glen’s residents and members of the community,” CEO and President Debra Williams said. “The Paul and Betty McDonald Foundation furthers our mission to bring exciting and interesting events that not only entertain, but educate and enrich, the lives of seniors and the public.”
