Learn about astronomy at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at The Glen in Shreveport as part of the retirement community’s CATS series.

Cran Lucas, a retired LSUS professor and past president and board member of the Shreveport Astronomical Society,  will present “Astronomy 101.” Lucas will discuss what is happening with Mars and Jupiter this month. He will also talk about how the society will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong landing on the moon.

CATS: Events on culture, arts, technology and science, presented by The Paul and Betty McDonald Foundation, is hosted by The Glen each year and brings a diverse group of scholars, leaders and artists to residents and the Shreveport-Bossier City community.

Sept. 17: Taking a selfie

Oct. 15: Performance by the Shreveport Opera
