6 Fall Activities To Enjoy
Fall is one of our favorite seasons. The leaves turning colors is a beauty to behold. The temperature also cools down and it is the perfect time for long walks with a light jacket in a pastoral landscape. Walks are not the only fall activities older adults can enjoy, however.
Here are six fall activities that are perfect for older adults to enjoy.
1. Nature walks
Watching the fall foliage and talking with friends are all part of the beauty of nature walks. Fall is a perfect time for these, as the temperature is cooler and there are typically fewer storms than in the spring and summer months.
2. Fishing
Fishing is an ideal fall activity, especially if you have a pier to fish from. A pier offers a safe space to engage in the sport and also visit with a fishing buddy. At The Glen, we have a pier where residents can enjoy the serenity and community that fishing provides.
3. Social hour
Prefer social interaction as a fall activity? Social hour is for you. Many retirement communities have these types of events set aside to grow the community closer together. At The Glen, we gather for Friday social hour and the residents love it!
4. Dining outdoors
Changing up the scenery during a meal can make heighten the dining experience. That’s why fall is the perfect time to try dining al fresco, which you can also do at The Glen. With plenty of spaces to enjoy all views of the landscape, it will be tough not to venture out for each meal.
5. Sports
When you think of fall, enjoying sports may be one of the first things that come to mind. Bean bag baseball, Bocce ball and others are engaging sports can be a fun activity to enjoy. Or maybe it is just watching your favorite team play on a big screen TV. Either way, you cannot have a perfect fall season without sports.
6. Art exhibits and performances
Finally, the fall is perfect for viewing art exhibits and performing artists. These performances are sometimes held outdoors and are always a good time. At The Glen, we host these regularly, as well as other enriching events like educational speakers and worship services.
