Residents present donation to Roy’s Kids
Residents at The Glen’s Stiles Apartments, which provides independent and assisted living services, have come together to support a local community organization. Residents presented a donation of $1,200 to Roy’s Kids on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at The Glen.
Roy’s Kids was founded in 2010 to help provide Christmas presents for children being raised in a single-parent household with limited income.
“It has since grown to include many other endeavors for underprivileged children during the year to make sure these children are not left out because of financial difficulties,” according to the organization’s Facebook page. “Our latest effort has been a successful drive to supply backpacks and other needed supplies for back-to-school for these kids.”
Mike Powell, founder of Roy’s Kids, said the contribution made him feel emotional and he could not thank the residents enough.
“It really means a lot to me, because without people like y’all, we can’t do this,” he said. “We are beyond thankful.”
